Lillian Alice Young Webb

Funeral services for Lillian Alice Young Webb, 89, of Leland will be at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, May 7 at First Baptist Church, Leland. She died May 4 at Delta Regional Medical Center. Burial will be in Leland-Stoneville Cemetery. 

Lillian was the daughter of Fred Wilson Young and Lillian Wiley Young, born January 3, 1927 in Merigold, MS. She graduated from Merigold High School and the University of Mississippi where she was a member of Delta Gamma. 

On October 15, 1949, she married John Culpepper Webb. She and John moved to Leland, his hometown, in 1951, where she lived the remainder of her life. Lillian served as president of the Leland Garden Club and was president of the Leland Junior Auxiliary, an organization where she also served as national corresponding secretary. She was a member of the Deer Creek Chapter of DAR and served as Sponsor of the Delta Debutante Club. Lillian was a longtime teacher in the Leland Public Schools, and as a faithful Christian, she taught Sunday School at First Baptist Church of Leland. 

She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and a brother, Fred Wiley Young. Survivors include her son, J. Culpepper Webb of Madison and his wife, Ronda, as well as their children, John Taylor Webb (April), Amanda Giuffria (Christopher), and Michael Tate Webb. She is also survived by her son, Richard Wiley Webb and his wife Elizabeth of Ridgeland, as well as his daughter, Carly Smith (Kevin). She had three great grandchildren. Her strong character and great resolve left a legacy for her family as well as a lasting influence on others. 

There will be a visitation one hour prior to services at the church. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Leland or Mississippi Baptist Children’s Village.
