Linda Funk Boschert

Linda Funk Boschert, age 85 of Greenville, MS went to be with her Lord and Savior peacefully on June 24, 2019 in Little Rock, AR surrounded by children and family.

Linda was born on October 4, 1933 in North Little Rock, AR, moved to Clarksdale, MS as a teenager and graduated from Clarksdale High School in 1951.  After graduation, she married her high school sweetheart, Harry Boschert.  They moved to Starkville while Harry completed college at Mississippi State University.  She was selected as Sweetheart of Sigma Chi in 1954.  After Harry graduated in 1955, they settled in Duncan, MS where they raised their family.  Linda was co-owner and later owner of Gla-Lin Reducing Salon in Clarksdale.  She was active in Duncan Baptist Church and the choir, the Eastern Star, DAR, Allie Carr Circle of Kings Daughters, Delta Council, Clarksdale Little Theater, and the Quota Club International Business Women’s organization, where she served as past-president.

In 1985, Linda and Harry moved to Greenville, MS.  While in Greenville, Linda was a devoted friend to many.  She loved her community and was committed to a life of service with many organizations and First Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir.  Linda was very involved in Local, State and National Elections and served as a Poll Manager and Poll worker.  She was elected and served as District 1 Election Commissioner from 2000-2008.  She was a member of the Kiwanis Club where she served as Lieutenant Governor, Alice Bell Garden Club, Chamber of Commerce Ambassador Council, Greenville Tree Board, Belvidere-Greenville Newcomers Club, Riverside Cotton Wives Club serving as Treasurer, Washington County Crime Stoppers serving as Treasurer, Washington County Relay for Life, Special Olympics, Washington County Bulldog Club and countless others. 

Linda is remembered in love by her son, Dr. Kenneth R. Boschert (Lynn) of Ballwin, MO; her daughter, Kimberly Boschert Phillips of Cabot, AR; her grandchildren Mark Phillips (Abby) of Conway, AR and Madeline Phillips Balgavy (Hayden) of Little Rock, AR; her great grandson David Phillips of Conway, AR; her sister Kathleen Funk Gann of Tunica, MS; Brother-in-law Dr. Thomas N. Boschert of Duncan, MS; and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Harry Raymond Boschert; her parents O.B. Funk, Luella Slayton Funk and Mary Ruth Funk; sister Shirley Brooks Tate; brother-in-law Robert Gann and sister-in law Eva Ann Boschert.

Please join us as we celebrate her life on Monday, July 1, 2019 at First Baptist Church in Greenville, MS under the direction of Boone Funeral Home with Dr. James Nichols, Jr. officiating.  Visitation will begin at 10 am with the service to follow at 11 am. The family will also host a visitation on Sunday, June 30, 2019 at Boone Funeral Home from 4-5 pm.  A brief graveside service will follow at Shelby Cemetery, Shelby, MS at 2:30 pm. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials may be made to Palmer Home for Children (palmerhome.org) or First Baptist Church of Greenville, MS.
