Linda Nadine Parker Baker

Funeral services for Linda Nadine Parker Baker of Hollandale will be at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at the Hollandale Church of God. She passed away on Thursday, January 11, 2024, at Allegiance Specialty Hospital in Greenville, MS. Burial will be in the Hollandale Cemetery under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Leland.

Linda was born July 30, 1946, in Weiner, Arkansas. She and her family moved to Mississippi when she was six and eventually to Hollandale while she was still in grade school. She remained in Hollandale for the rest of her life.

Linda met her husband Harold on a blind date. They married a year and a half later and had two children. Linda worked from her home babysitting children when her own children were small before taking a position with the Hollandale City Hall. She worked there for 26 years, until her retirement as Deputy City Clerk.

Linda was known for her clever wit and for never meeting a stranger. She was a wonderful Christian woman and started every day with a devotion of bible reading and prayer. Linda enjoyed quilting, cross stitching, and crocheting. She especially enjoyed gifting her crocheted baby blankets to new mothers. But her greatest past time was being with her children and grandchildren.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Woodrow and Winifred Williams Parker of Hollandale; her sister, Mary Evelyn Parker Roberts; and her brother Jimmy Charles Parker.

Linda is survived by her husband of 56 years, Harold Blan Baker, her two daughters: Lora Ann (John) Merrill of Mebane, NC, and Rhonda Lynn (Mark) DiBiase of Leland; two granddaughters, Maegan and Marlayna Merrill; and her brother Larry Joe Parker of Leland.

Visitation will be at 1:00 p.m. prior to the service on Wednesday at the church. Officiating will be Rev Dennis Salley of the Hollandale Baptist Church and Rev David Jones of the Hollandale Church of God.

The family would like to especially thank the staff at Allegiance Specialty Hospital and Delta Health System – The Medical Center for their love, care, and support.
