Loda Anne Johnston Maynor went to be with the Lord on August 6, 2020. A celebration of her life will be held at a future time.
Born February 5, 1940 in Clarksdale Mississippi, she graduated in 1958 from Clarksdale High School. Loda worked as a bookkeeper for many years and also owned and operated the Lion and Lamb Christian Bookstore with her sister, Linda, in Clarksdale from 1987 to 1998. She retired from Sherwin Williams in 2015.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred Johnston and Ruth Matthews Johnston, and her son, William Early Enis, Jr.
She is survived by her daughter Anne Ceranti (James) of Lake Village, Arkansas, her beloved twin sister Linda Foster of Yazoo City, Mississippi, and her brother Fred Johnston (Betty) of Duck Hill, Mississippi.
She was “Meemaw” to her grandchildren John Austin Berry (Jenna), Melanie Enis Parker (Matt), Trey Enis, Ashley Ceranti (Christian Hansson), Ashlea Gordon Lee (John), Jami Gordon, and Scott Gordon, and also to great grandchildren Mackenzie Parker, Sloane Parker, Ellie Parker, Aikman Lee, Hanna Lee, Ethan Gordon, Isabell Gordon, Harper Berry and Niko Hansson.
Loda was a self-taught accomplished artist who drew many portraits of her family. She loved animals and provided food and shelter for a host of stray animals her entire life. She could do anything she put her mind to! Knitting, sewing, crocheting, gardening, and drawing were some of the things she loved to do.
She is especially remembered for the special birthday and Christmas cards she sent faithfully to her family for many years, with a special handwritten scriptural blessing to her loved ones. Her favorite blessing was “The Lord bless you and keep you; The Lord make His face shine upon you and be gracious to you; The Lord lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace” (Numbers 6:24-26).
Memorials may be sent to her church home of many years, Clarksdale Baptist Church, 401 First Street, Clarksdale, MS 38614 or Clarksdale Animal Rescue Effort & Shelter (CARES), PO Box 142, Clarksdale, MS 38614.
