Graveside services for Lona Whittington Hankins of Owens Cross Roads, AL will be at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, November 4, 2022 at the Hollandale City Cemetery. She passed away on October 30, 2022, at the age of 87, leaving to mourn family and friends.
A native of the Mississippi delta, Mrs. Hankins married George Hankins in 1956 and moved to New Orleans, LA, where she worked for an insurance company until the birth of her son Michael. She devoted the remainder of her life to her husband, son, and grandsons. Family meant everything to Mrs. Hankins.
Mrs. Hankins was predeceased by her parents, Claude L. Whittington and Betty Mae Whittington, and her brothers, Lester Whittington and Travis Whittington.
Mrs. Hankins is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, George Hankins; her son Michael Hankins (Carrie); her grandsons Will Hankins and Garrett Hankins; and her sister Glenda Haynes (Al); along with countless friends and loved ones.
Visitation will be Friday 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM at Leland Church of Christ with Ray Williford officiating.
