Funeral services for Lonnie Arthur Pierce, 76, and his wife Melissa Estelle Brown Pierce, 64, of Rolling Fork will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 30, 2023 at New Beginnings Fellowship Church in Greenville. They both died in a tragic disaster (tornado) in Rolling Fork on Friday, March 24, 2023. Burial will be at Mound Cemetery in Rolling Fork, MS under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Greenville.
Lonnie was born on July 12, 1946 in Danville, VA and moved to Rolling Fork, MS in 1967.
He was an avid outdoorsman and musician. He loved to hunt and fish, and loved spending time with family and friends. When he was not hunting, fishing or playing music he could be found at Chucks Dairy Bar or the Napa Store socializing with friends. He worked for Brutton Farms.
He was preceded in death by his father, Paul Pierce, his mother, Irene and youngest son, Paul Pierce.
Melissa was born on December 5, 1958 in Savannah, TN moving to Rolling Fork at an early age where she attended school. She was employed with the prison in Issaquena County and Deer Creek Baptist Church. She loved spending time with family, loved taking family photos, and always loved helping others, volunteering and cooking.
They are survived by sons, Dale Pierce (Leah) of Danville, VA, Rodney Pierce (Tasha) of Hollandale, MS and David Brown of Tallulah, LA; daughter, Christy Phillips (Donavon) of Morton, MS; grandchildren, Gage Saulter, Aiden Pierce, Madeline Brumfield, Katie Pierce, Colby Phillips and Finnlee Brown; nephews, Cody Pierce and Travis Pierce and niece, Danielle Pierce. Lonnie is survived by his brother Michael Pierce (Sylvia) of Eunice, LA and Melissa is survived by her sisters, Sue Foster, Kathleen McDaniel and Faye Livingston and brothers, Billy Ray Brown, James Brown, and Author Brown.
There will be a visitation from 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. on Thursday prior to the services at the church.
