Lonnie E. Williams

Funeral services for Lonnie E. Williams, 80, of Leland will be at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 14 at Pentecostal Lighthouse Church. He died Friday, June 9 at Delta Regional Medical Center. Burial will be in Leland-Stoneville Cemetery under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Leland.

He was born on January 29, 1937 in Skeen, MS to the late Grover Cleveland and Carrie Hodges Williams. Lonnie started out picking cotton and later worked for Superior Boat of Greenville retiring in 2002. He was a member of Pentecostal Lighthouse Church. Lonnie loved life, he and his momma enjoyed fishing and working in the garden. Lonnie also loved to ride his Grasshopper, and he built trailers which were some of the best in town. He and his momma would travel every summer to Warren, AR to pick 5 gallon buckets of tomatoes for their friends in town.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Vera Marie Jacobs Williams; their twin daughters, Viola Kay and Leola Faye Williams; sisters, Effie Smith and Aunt Mae; brothers, Grover Cleveland, Frank, Bennie, Jessie Grandy and his twin brother, Johnny Williams.

He is survived by his three sons, Lonnie L. Williams (Patricia), Hank Williams (Debbie) and Ted Williams; ten grandchildren, Lonnie Lavell Williams, Jr., (Patti), Amanda Nastassia Williams, Elizabeth Williams Provine (Jason), Jason Nathaniael Williams (Robin), Skylar Breanne Williams, Senior Airman Daylan Morris (Sunshyne), Corey Germany, Rachel Maddox, Patrick Campbell and Lauren Williams; 13 great grandchildren, Jeffery, Leearin, Sarah, Savannah, Elsa, Zoey, Adalyn, Eli, Emmarie, Emmitt, Braylon, Laikyn, and Aurora. Lonnie also had a very special guy they called him “Son”, Darrell Smith and a special little furry granddog, Sparky.

There will be a visitation from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 13 at Pentecostal Lighthouse Church. Rev. Jonathan Toler will officiate the service.
