Lorene Laws Gregory

Funeral services for Lorene Laws Gregory, 96, of Greenville and formerly of Leland will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 13 at First Baptist Church, Leland. She died Wednesday, February 10 at her home. Burial will be in Leland-Stoneville Cemetery. 

She was born in Cleveland, MS on May 19, 1919 to Marvin Jack Bramlet and Ocie Seymore. She received her education in the public schools at Bond, MS and later in Clinton, MS. She married James Atwood Laws on December 20, 1936. She opened the Vogue Beauty Salon in Leland in 1940 where she continued working until her retirement at 88 years of age. Atwood died on Febuary 24, 1985. 

On January 1,1986 she married Sanford Gregory and he passed away on November 2002. 

She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School, sang in the choir and enjoyed all of her church family. She enjoyed making Christmas ornaments and sharing them with many friends and family. She was an amazing lady and will be greatly missed by many. 

Besides her husbands she was preceded in death by Sanfords daughter Sandra Maynard. 

She is survived by two daughters Cherri Clancy (David Brown) of Branson, MO, Rita Martin (Lee) of Greenville, and one son-in- law Steve Maynard of Houston, TX; sister, Jackie B. Fuqua of Cleveland, MS; eight grandchildren, Tom Geoghagan (Katherine), Lee Long (Lauren), Elizabeth Walker (Aaron), Michael Clancy (Alicia), Meredith Clancy, Greg Maynard (Tonya), Shari Hall (Allen), Jon Maynard (Heather) and Marcy Hall; 14 Great Grandchildren and 4 Great Great Grandchildren. 

The family would like to thank DRMC Hospice for their care over the last two years. A special thanks to Sara, Rose, Mary, Jackie, Karen and Trudie. Thanks also to our Pastor Jon Doler. 

There will be a visitation one hour prior to services at the church. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Leland, American Cancer or Heart Association, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or a charity of your choice.
