Louis “Buddy” Lamar Vandevender, Jr.

Funeral services for Louis “Buddy” Lamar Vandevender, Jr., 68, of Glen Allan will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, September 2 at Glen Allan United Methodist Church. He died Tuesday, August 30 at his home. Burial will be in Greenfield Cemetery under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Greenville. 

Louis was born in Greenville and at an early age moved to Myersville with his parents, Louis Lamar Vandevender and Mary Addie Thomas Vandevender. Louis graduated from Rolling Fork High School and then graduated from Delta State University. In 1972 he married Jamie Boykin and they made their home in Delta City. He had been employed with Valley Chemical before becoming employed with Jimmy Sanders Seed Company in 1978 retiring in 2015. In 2010 he moved to Glen Allan where he was a member of Glen Allan United Methodist Church. He was an avid hunter and loved spending time on the lake with his family. 

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, William T. Vandevender. He is survived by his wife, Jamie Boykin Vandevender; 2 daughters, Mary Margaret McDonald (Keith) of Birmingham, AL and Allison Vandevender Davis (Jason) of Madison; son, Van Vandevender (Natalie) of Madison; and 7 grandchildren, Matt, Eli, and Avery McDonald; Britt and Preston Davis; Coleman and Holland Vandevender.

There will be a visitation one hour prior to services at the church. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
