Memorial services for Lysbeth Lynn Virden Hargrove, 66, of Leland, Mississippi will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 16, 2022 at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Leland. She passed away on Monday, December 12, 2022. Arrangements are under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Leland.
She was a beloved daughter, sister, mother, and grandmother, who will be missed dearly.
Lysbeth was born September 19, 1956 in New Orleans, Louisiana, to George Lynn and Martha Fullan Hawkins Virden. She grew up and spent most of her childhood in Greenville, graduating from St. Joseph Catholic School. She attended Delta State University and graduated with a degree in Graphic Design. Lysbeth moved to the Mississippi Coast, where she worked as a graphic artist and writer for the Times-Stone County newspaper in Wiggins, where she lived for over 20 years. She moved back to her hometown of Leland in 2012, where she was a faithful companion to her mother, Martha.
Lysbeth had a beautiful smile and a big heart. She was devoted to her family and made many friends throughout her life. She had a “green thumb” and gardening was her favorite pastime, with many of her plants on display in her mother’s sunroom. She enjoyed participating in the Leland Garden Club and the Leland United Methodist Church Lunch Bunch. She was also active in the local Emmaus group.
She is preceded in death by her father George Lynn Virden, grandparents Huron Wilkerson and Doris Metcalfe Virden, and Judge Burgin and Lysbeth Fullan Hawkins.
Lysbeth is survived by her son, Virden Hargrove (Lydia); grandchildren Christian and Jackson Hargrove; mother Martha Virden; and sister Amy Virden.
