Funeral services for Margaret Williamson Sims, 80, of Hollandale will be at 11:00 a.m., Thursday at Hollandale Baptist Church. She went to be with her Lord Monday, July 18, 2016, at her home surrounded by her family. Burial will be in Hollandale Cemetery.
She was born in Montgomery County, Mississippi and was the daughter of Eugene and Lora Williamson.
Margaret graduated from Belzoni High School and attended Sunflower County Junior College. She married Joe Curtis Sims on June 3, 1956. In 1958 they moved to Hollandale and made their home. Margaret worked for the Bank of Hollandale for 31 years until her retirement. She was a member of Hollandale Baptist Church where she served on various committees and taught Sunday school. She was an avid gardener and could be found each spring tending her beautiful flower beds. Margaret greatly enjoyed collecting and displaying her annual snow village. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant brother, Eugene Williamson. Margaret leaves to cherish her memory her loving and devoted husband, Joe Curtis Sims, Sr. of Hollandale; son, Joe Curtis Sims, Jr. and wife Holli of Fulshear, Texas; daughters, Annette Sims Brown and husband Larry of Carmack, Mississippi, Gail Sims Manor and husband Rev. Dr. Jack Manor of Hollandale; sisters, Mamie Aust and Husband Curtis of Itta Bena, and Dorothy Outlaw and husband Henry “Buster” Outlaw, Jr. of Belzoni; grandchildren, Brandy Fitts Tominello and husband Dominic, Jack Manor, III, Amber Brown, Melissa Manor, Christin Manor, Joe Curtis Sims, III, and Emma Margaret Sims; great grandchildren, Neely Grant Wright, III and Molly Tominello.
The family will receive friends Thursday, July 21, 2016 from 10:00 am until the 11:00 am funeral service at Hollandale Baptist Church.
