Margery “Marge” Holladay Brophy

Funeral services for Margery “Marge” Holladay Brophy, 84, of Indianola, will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, May 16 at St. Stephens Episcopal Church, Indianola. Truly one of God’s Earth Angels, she lost a long battle with Alzheimer’s, a most cruel disease, on May 13th. Burial will be in Indianola City Cemetery.

Marge was born in Meridian on September 15, 1931, to Dr. Walter Robert and Rosalie Holladay. After graduating from Meridian High School, Marge attended the University of Southern Mississippi, where she was a member of Tri Delta Sorority. It was there she met her devoted husband of 63 years, Gerry Brophy.

Having called Indianola home since 1974, Marge was a faithful member of St. Stephens Episcopal Church. A beautiful, sweet soul with a shy smile, Marge had a love of painting, listening to beautiful music, playing bridge with friends, and for many years volunteered as a kindergarten teacher’s assistant. To know her was to love her.

Marge was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Kevin David Brophy; and her brother, Dr. Walter Robert “Bob” Holladay, Jr. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her husband, Gerry; daughter, Erin Gilbow and her husband, Mike; granddaughter, Lesley Moore, and her husband Trey; great-grandson, Parker, all of Indianola; also her brother, Eddie Holladay, of Meridian; along with numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Special thanks to her devoted, loyal caregivers at Liberty Health and Rehab, Dr. Eddie Donahoe, and caregivers Sylvia Little and Lovey Wright.

There will be a visitation one hour prior to services at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to St. Stephens Episcopal Church or to a charity of your choice.
