Funeral services for Martha Lishman Strain, 87, of Jackson and formerly of Greenville will be at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 5, 2013 at Boone Funeral Home, Greenville. She died Saturday, November 2, 2013 at St. Dominic Hospital, Jackson. Burial will be in Greenville Cemetery under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Greenville.
She was born in Cleveland, MS to Oscar and Bernice Lampard Lishman. She graduated from Ruleville public schools and then attended college in Memphis, TN. After she finished college she married Drue Estus Strain, Jr. on April 3, 1948 at the First Baptist Church, Greenville. They made their home in Greenville where she was secretary for Dr. Love for many years. After her retirement she worked at Lina’s Interior Designs. She was a member of First Baptist Church and the Greenville Garden Club.
She was preceded in death by a son, Maury Howard Strain, five siblings, Earl Naron, Eth Naron, Roy Naron, Willie Mae Hannah and Berna Jean Waggaman. She is survived by 2 daughters, Rebecca Strain Oakman of Jackson, MS and Madelyn Strain Montjoy of Vicksburg, MS; 2 sons, Drue E. Strain, III of Austin, TX and Craig Lishman Strain of Cleveland, MS, 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
