SERVICE INFORMATION -Funeral Mass for Martha Signa will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 6, 2026, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the service time.
Funeral services for Martha Louise Signa, age 84, of Greenville, MS, are pending at Boone Funeral Home, Greenville. She died June 23, 2026.
Martha Louise was born June 9, 1942, in Greenville to Dominick (Doe) Emile Signa and Mamie Brocato Signa. She was a parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church and graduated from St. Joseph Catholic High School. She received a Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Physical Education from Delta State University and the University of South Alabama, respectively. Teaching PE and coaching women’s basketball were her passions. She went on to do both at Leland, MS, Pensacola, FL, University of South Alabama, and in the Mobile Public Schools. Martha’s teaching experiences ranged from kindergarten to college coaching, with most of her forty years dedicated to elementary grades, K-5. She was recognized as Teacher of the Year on more than one occasion.
Those who knew Martha well knew that she never met a stranger, was kind to young and not-so-young, loved her dogs (especially her precious Molly) and her flowers, but she loved her family most of all. One parent recently remarked, ” The children have so many precious memories of play days and annual physical education programs that she planned and organized. So many former students hold a special place in their hearts for her”. Her nieces and nephews have fond memories of spending time with her during the summers when she lived in Mobile.
Martha was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Carmel Signa and Doe Signa, Jr.
She is survived by her brother, Charles Signa (Mary Ann) and sister-in-law, Barbara (Sug) Signa, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
