Marvin Ray Sims

Funeral services for Marvin Ray Sims, 88, of Leland, will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 8, 2026, at Boone Funeral Home in Leland. There will be a visitation from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home. He died on Monday, May 4, 2026, at Choctaw County Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Ackerman, MS. Burial will be in the Leland-Stoneville Cemetery following the service. Arrangements are under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Leland.

He was born in Jennie, AR on 12-21-1937. He was the son of the late RA & Clara Mae Sims. Marvin worked in various positions in the Delta as a truck driver, mechanic, and heavy equipment operator. He ended his career as Maintenance Supervisor at Comet Rice and then Conagra Fish Processing before his retirement. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Leland.

Mr. Sims is survived by his 3 daughters; Mary Ann Palmer of Leland, Sandra (Randy) Phillips of Leland, and Linda (Jeff) Harkins of Ackerman, MS, and a special friend, Robert Dogan. He has 6 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great grandchildren, along with a host of nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by the love of his life for 67 years, Patricia Ann Daniels Sims; his brothers, Carrol Sims, Vernon Sims, Melton Sims & Archie Sims; and his sisters, Elah Mae Sims (died at birth), Carrie Hampton, Robbie Hammock, Lorene Corder, and Florine Ponder.

Pallbearers are his grandsons Tommy Brasier, Daniel Harkins, Dawson Brooks, Corey Carrol, Josh Flynn, his great-grandsons Bailey Sellars & Dylan Brasier.

The family suggests memorials be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. They would also like to express their appreciation and love to the administration and staff of Choctaw County Nursing & Rehabilitation in Ackerman.
