Funeral services for Mary Alice Younger Woods, 81, of Bossier City, LA and formerly of Greenville will be at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 20 at Hollandale Baptist Church. She passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 17 in Bossier City. Burial will be in Hollandale Cemetery.
She was the ninth of ten children born to Mary Avice and Clarence Younger on April 23, 1934.
Mary Alice was employed with Twin County Electric Power Association in Hollandale for 43 years before retiring in April 1996. She and her husband Curtis enjoyed going to church, traveling and camping with the Good Sam Club and she also enjoyed baking friendship cakes for her friends and loved ones. She was a member of Hollandale Baptist Church, Horseshoe Lake Baptist Church in Mer Rouge, LA, Temple Baptist Church in Greenville and most recently, Shady Grove Baptist Church in Bossier City, LA.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 54 years, William Curtis Woods; four sisters, Virginia Lee Younger, Emily Murphy, Grace Nerren, Frances Nerren and by three brothers, Ornette Younger, Tom Younger, and William Younger.
She is survived by 2 daughters, Deborah Yeates (Chuck) of Corinth, MS and Fay Harper (Keith) of Bossier City, LA; 2 brothers, Charles Younger and Harold Younger; 5 grandchildren, Jennifer Yeates Taylor, Holland Yeates, Mary Lauren Cook (Jeremy), Barry Harper, and Sarah Grace Harper; and 4 great grandchildren, Mary Margaret Taylor, Virginia Kate Taylor, Harper Paige Cook, and Jax Allen Cook.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the church. The Rev. Dennis Salley will officate. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association (alz.org).
