Mary Anne Sparkman Risner

UPDATE, FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE AT BOONE FUNERAL HOME, GREENVILLE INSTEAD OF AT THE GRAVESIDE. TIME IS STILL 2:00 PM

Graveside services for Mrs. Mary Anne Sparkman Risner, age 92, of Greenville will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 6, 2024, at the Greenville Cemetery. She passed away on January 2, 2024, after a stroke in Jackson, MS. Arrangements are under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Greenville.

Mrs. Risner was born in Shaw, MS in 1931 and was educated in the Greenville Public School System. After her marriage to Robert H. Risner in 1948, they resided in Greenville, MS until her death. Upon her retirement from the U.S. Forest Service, she and her husband traveled the country for more than 5 years in their RV before settling down again in Greenville. Mrs. Risner enjoyed her children, her beloved dogs, traveling, boating, skiing, deep sea fishing, cooking, and spending time with family playing games. She resided at Magnolia Gardens for her last couple of years.

She is survived by five children who will miss her dearly and include Paula Brodofsky (Sidney), Roberta Whatley (Charles – deceased), Merrie Carol Knight (Frank), Robert Risner, Amelia Skinner (Bryon – deceased); 12 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and one brother, James Sparkman and one sister, Nancy Brownlee.

Mrs. Risner was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Mr. Robert H. Risner, and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ezra Sparkman.
