Mary Elizabeth Ranney

Funeral services to celebrate the life of Mary Elizabeth Ranney, 61, of Fort Worth, TX and formerly of Leland will be at 1:00 pm, Saturday, August 24, 2019, at the Leland United Methodist Church.  Due to complications associated with Multiple Sclerosis, she passed away on August 14, 2019.  Burial will be in the Leland-Stoneville Cemetery.  Arrangements are under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Leland.
 
She was born in Bryan, Texas on March 29, 1958.  She was an excellent student.  She graduated from Starkville High School, Mississippi State University, and Texas A&M University, with a master’s degree.  She attended classes at what is now the University of North Texas in Denton, Texas. After Graduation in Texas, she worked in the Dallas/Fort Worth area as an Interior Designer in commercial and private businesses.  After it was discovered that she had Multiple Sclerosis she returned to Mississippi to attend Delta State University in Cleveland, MS. She completed courses in Business Administration and was working toward getting a CPA.  During this time she worked at several casinos in the Greenville area.
 
She was always fighting the MS, maintaining her own lifestyle working, living on her own, and being active as she could in the community.  As time progressed, setbacks took their toll over her the last 15 years of her life.  She fought all the way to the end.  She was a loving daughter, sister, and friend to all that knew her. 
Mary Elizabeth was predeceased by her parents Carleton David and Mary Kathryn Ranney.  She is survived by her brother David and his wife Karen and their son, Vincent Russo of Forth Worth, TX.  Mary Elizabeth also leaves behind her aunt, Geraldine Pianta, and several nieces and nephews.
 
There will be a visitation one hour prior to the services at the church.  The family suggests memorial contributions be sent to the Leland United Methodist Church, Leland, MS.
