Mary Elizabeth Woodruff

Graveside services for Mary Elizabeth Woodruff, 74, of Glen Allan will be at 5:00 p.m., Sunday, October 17, 2021 at County Line Cemetery. She died Thursday, October 14, 2021 at M. D. Anderson in Houston, TX. Arrangements are under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Greenville, MS.

She was born to Eugene and Ann Blackwell Dozier in Little Rock, AR and graduated from Little Rock Central. She married Jerry Hunter and they made their home in Lake Village, AR until he died in 1978. Mary later married W. C. Woodruff in 1982 making their home in Glen Allan, MS. She worked and was an important part of the family farm. She was an active member of Glen Allan United Methodist Church. She served as the Sunday School Treasurer and on the Administrative Council.

Mary spent many afternoons on the lake and loved to water ski. In their early years, Mary and W. C. enjoyed the winter months in West Yellowstone, MT riding the trails on snowmobiles. Later on, they traded the winter cold for the summer heat and spent many long days on the beaches of Marco Island, FL. This is where her fascination with God’s spectacular sunsets emerged. Granny, as they know her, adored her grandchildren and supported each of them in the various activities and sports they participated in.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her first husband. She is survived by her husband, W. C. Woodruff of Glen Allan, MS; two sons, Scott (Carol) Hunter of Glen Allan, MS and Steve (Mitzi) Hunter of Grace, MS; three daughters, G. G. (Scott) Northington of Deatsville, AL, Deborah (Jeff) Whitney of Alpharetta, GA and Bendi (David) Saindon of Houston, TX; 13 grandchildren, Ashley (Adam) Gober, Jason Hunter, Jeremy Hunter, Brandon Hunter, Tanner Hunter, Parker Hunter, Jacob Van Northington, , Yanci Northington, Chase Whitney, Connor Whitney, Alexander Saggi, Samuel Saindon and William Saindon; a great granddaughter, Mia Elizabeth Gober.
