Mary Frances Patterson

Funeral services for Mary Frances McCord Patterson, 96, of Hollandale, widow of J. C. Patterson, will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 16 at Hollandale United Methodist Church. She passed away on Saturday, December 10 in Tupelo, MS. Burial will be in the Hollandale City Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Leland. 

Born in Pontotoc, MS on November 30, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Willie J. and Annie Mae McCord of Ecru. She graduated from Sherman High School and worked for the home extension office in Pontotoc County before moving to Hollandale, Mississippi, where she and J.C. raised their family.

Along with her husband and parents, Mary Frances was predeceased by her sons, Jimmy and Gene Patterson, and siblings, Annie Grace Bryant, Lucille Faulkner, Mamie Sue Ross, and Robert McCord. She is survived by her children Roger (Debby) Patterson of Water Valley, Mississippi, and Patti (Bob) Seigler of Greenville, South Carolina; daughter-in-law Kathleen Patterson of Pascagoula,Mississippi; sisters Bonnie Dillard of Tupelo and Hazel Condon of Memphis; grandchildren Kim (Shannon) Ruscoe, Laurie (Kevin) Moyes, Clint Patterson, Van Patterson, Paige (Todd) White,Scott (Jen) Patterson, Jennifer Clark, Casey Patterson, Carrie Seigler, and Robert Seigler and 13 great grandchildren.

Mary Frances was a past-president of the Delta Garden Club and enjoyed her flower garden and creating floral arrangements. She was a member of Hollandale United Methodist Church and the Thelma Turner Group. Mary Frances was active in the PTA of both Hollandale High School and Deer Creek School and was a faithful fan of all her children’s sporting events. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed entertaining her friends with coffee and kitchen chats. She was never without a funny, often lengthy, story to tell. Mary Frances will always be remembered as a true southern lady and an incredible story teller. She was deeply loved.
