Graveside services for Mary Frank “Frankie” Scott Smyly of Darlove, MS, a dedicated mother, grandmother, and friend, will be at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 13, 2022 at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. She passed away on November 11, 2022 at the age of 85. Arrangements are under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Leland.
Mary was born to Lovett and Wilma Scott on June 24, 1937 in Mantee, MS. She later moved to Leland, MS where she became a telephone operator. She met and married the love of her life, Robert Irvin Smyly, Sr. on February 5, 1960. They lived in Darlove, MS where they farmed and raised three sons.
Mary enjoyed her life working on the family farm. She loved driving tractors, hunting, gardening, cooking, picking up pecans, and anything outdoors. She also treasured time with her three boys and truly adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lovett Scott an Wilma Hill Scott; her husband Robert Irvin Smyly, Sr., and her siblings, Ann Scott, Katie Funderburk, Jimmy Scott, and Mildred Scott Gann.
She is survived by her sons, Robert Irvin Smyly, Jr. (Cheryl), Scotty Lamar Smyly (Kim), and Frank Douglas Smyly (Nichole) all of Hollandale; her grandchildren, Jessie Smyly Greenwald, Jenny Smyly Hoben, Robyn Smyly Tharp, Carson Smyly, Aubrey Smyly, Cameron Smyly, Lexi Smyly, and Sarah Scott Smyly; her great grandchildren, Max Hoben, Anna Gray Tharp, Bennett Hoben, Sutton Smyly, John Douglas Smyly and Landrey Tharp and her siblings, Sue Ivy of Houston, MS, Tom Scott of Houston, MS and Bob Scott of Kosciusko, MS.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Blair E. Batson Children’s hospital in her honor.
