Mary Gwendolyn Mason, known lovingly as Gwen, passed away on March 22, 2026, in Tallahassee, Florida, after an extended illness. She was 86 years old.
Gwen was born on August 15, 1939, in Leland, Mississippi, to Virgil and Pauline Mason. A woman of quiet grace and generous spirit, she lived a life defined by her devotion to family and her deep desire to serve others.
Throughout her life, Gwen gave freely of her time and talents. She was a proud and dedicated member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Statesboro, Georgia, a chapter of her life she cherished deeply. Her love for children led her to volunteer in her daughter’s kindergarten classroom, where she found great fulfillment in working with young learners and helping them reach their goals. Gwen was a skilled cross-stitcher who lovingly crafted Christmas stockings for her family members, gifts that became treasured keepsakes marking each holiday season with her personal touch.
Above all, Gwen was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She took immense pride in watching her grandchildren, Garrett, Graden, Rachel, Carson, and Callie, grow up, and she made it a priority to be present at their events and milestones. She was overjoyed to welcome her great-grandchildren, Hadley, Jase, Everett, Brody, and Bryce, into the family.
Gwen is survived by her daughter, Cindy Bozeman (Russell), and her son, Doug McNease (Patty).
She now rests in the arms of her Lord and Savior. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. in Leland, Mississippi, where Gwen will be laid to rest beside her beloved father, Virgil Mason; her mother, Pauline Mason; and her infant sister, Lydia.
