Graveside services for Mary Stueart Gober, 92, of Lake Village, Arkansas, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 1, 2023, at Oakland Cemetery in Fordyce, Arkansas. She passed away at Washington Care Center in Greenville, MS, on March 17, 2023. Arrangements are under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Greenville.
Mary was born in Collins, Arkansas, on August 18, 1930, to James Thomas Stueart and Hattie Jones Stueart. She was married to Olen Kenneth Gober from January 1948 until his death in August 1995.
Mary was a member of Lake Village Baptist Church and Lake Village Civic Club, where she volunteered and willingly shared her culinary skill and love of providing comfort through food.
Mamie, as she was affectionately called by her grandchildren, devoted her life to her family. The holidays were always special as she opened her home to family and friends. Preparation was completed months in advance to ensure her menus included everyone’s favorite dish. These family gatherings and her unconditional love were the glue that bound her family together. Entertaining guests in her home was accomplished with ease and the grace of a true Southern hostess. Mary welcomed all who came through her door and was gifted in making all of her guests feel right at home.
Mary was preceded in death by her loving husband of 47 years, Olen Gober; her infant daughter Sheron Kay Gober; and her mother and father. She is survived by her three children Donna Cox (Everett) of Dumas, AR; Cindy Berry (Dan) of Cape Girardeau, MO; Gregg Gober (Laura) of Lake Village, AR; one brother James Stueart (Linda) of Longview, TX; seven grandchildren, Courtney Johnson, Kenny Cox, Elliott Berry, Lawson Berry, Ryan Gober, Adam Gober, and Emma Gober; and three great-grandchildren, Aidan Kole Cox, Grant Cox and Mia Gober.
