Funeral services for Mazell Blaylock Prewitt, 85, of Hollandale were held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 19, 2020 at Boone Funeral Home, Leland. She passed away on Friday, October 16, 2020 at Delta Regional Medical Center. Burial was in Hollandale City Cemetery under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Leland.
Mazell was born on August 25, 1935 to Guy Henry Blaylock and Paire Lee Bennett Blaylock.
In January 1952 she married H. R. Prewitt, Sr. and to their union were 4 children; H. R. Prewitt, Jr. (Penny) of Prairieville, LA, Dianna Kay Tripplett (Clyde) of Leland, Kathy Prewitt of Hollandale and Charlotte Ann Prewitt of Hollandale. She was preceded in death in 2001 by her husband of 49 years, H. R. Prewitt, Sr. She has 4 grandchildren, Renee Prewitt, Danny Earl Lester, Tricia Butler, and Amy Hilton; 5 great grandchildren, Zackary Elsar, Victoria Butler, Christopher Prewitt, Cameron Prewitt and Collins Prewitt.
Mazell was the 4th child of 12 children; Bobby Blaylock, Mary Helen Kastlow, Rose Lee Ramage, Mazell B. Prewitt, Herbert Blaylock, Clyde Blaylock, Nell Blaylock, Nan Blaylock, Ned Blaylock, Margie Shaw, Shirley Boatman and Robbie Blaylock.
Her most favorite things to do were working in her yard and her vegetable garden every year that she was able to. Her accomplishments were her family and the respect from her friends. She would always say, “Never turn your back on a friend, because you never know when you might need them.”
She will be truly missed by her family and friends. She worked for the Baptist Church from 1965 to 1978 and was there for every function (weddings, funerals, meetings, dinner parties) alike. She never missed a day. If you called she was there waiting for you. She was loved by everyone and respected for her service at the church.
There was a visitation from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the funeral home on Monday.
