Funeral services for Melba Canoy Rivers, 63, of Mantee will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 23 at the Boone Chapel in Hollandale. She died Wednesday, June 20 in Arcola. Burial will be in the Hollandale City Cemetery under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Leland.
Melba was born in Moorhead, MS where she received her education. In 1972 she married Johnny Rivers and they made their home in Greenville. She worked at Greenville Mills and then later Producers Rice Mill. In 2009 they moved to Mantee.
She is survived by her husband, Johnny Rivers of Mantee; daughter, Linda Gail Weeks (Duke) of Savannah, GA; two sons, Johnny Rivers, Jr. (Christina) of Weavers, AL and Charles Rivers (Alicia) of San Angelo, TX; two brothers, Sam Canoy of Bowman, TX and Edgar Canoy of Mantee, MS; three sisters, Nancy Hamilton of Mantee, MS, Jenny Dyson of Lumberton, MS and Dorothy Hamilton of Wiggins, MS; eight grandchildren, Kimberly Rivers, Johnathan Rivers (Brittany), Jordan Stephens, Cody Rivers (Kristin), Jacob Rivers, Dustin Stephens, Christian Rivers, Christopher Rivers, Taigan Rivers and MaKinna Rivers; and four great grandchildren.
There will be a visitation from 6:00-7:00 p.m., Friday, June 22 at the Boone Chapel in Hollandale.
