Funeral services for Monica Lou Coleman, 79, of Greenville will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, May 8, 2015 at Trinity Community Church. She died at Baptist Medical Center, Jackson after a short illness. Burial will be at 2:00 p.m. at Keo Cemetery, Keo, AR.
U.F. Coleman, Jr., her husband of 52 years died in 2008.
She graduated high school in Natchez, Mississippi in 1953. She attended Louisiana State University where she was a member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority and Mississippi State University.
She was a member of the Colonial Garden Club and received numerous awards for floral design. She was also a member of the staff at Fountain’s Green “Grow” cery for more than 20 years. She was a member and past president of the Triad Club. She was active in the Port City Propellers Swim Team. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. She enjoyed the lake with her family and was active in the Greenville Yacht Club. Some of her happiest days were those that she spent with her family at her beach house in Fort Morgan, Alabama and at the Nam-e-loc hunting club.
She is survived by one daughter, Candi (Lee) Underwood, and three sons: Franklin Coleman (Aimee), Cary (Angie) Coleman and Craig (Pam) Coleman. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren: Natalie (Van) Vandevender, Caroleen (Gus) Eifling, Claire(Matthew) Barnhart, Corrie Ann (Dave) Gatlin, Lauren (Richard) Smith, Ashley Coleman, John-Austin Coleman, Walker Coleman, Bailey Coleman, Bryce Coleman and 8 great-grandchildren Sam Eifling, Julia Eifling, Harper Gatlin, Hannah Gatlin, Squire Meredith, Coleman Vandevender, Holland Vandevender and Kaiden Smith.
Pallbearers include Franklin Coleman, Cary Coleman, Craig Coleman, John-Austin Coleman, Walker Coleman, Bryce Coleman. Honorary pallbearers are Van Vandevender, Gus Eifling, Richard Smith, Matthew Barnhart and Dave Gatlin.
Family Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Thursday, May 7 at the Coleman home at 594 Wintergreen, Greenville, MS. In lieu of flowers, please make donation to the Delta Cotton Belles, P. O. Box 1292, Greenville, MS 38702-1292 or Arms of Mercy, c/o Major Hogue, P. O. Box 4691, Greenville, MS 38704-4691. Dr. Park Neff will officiate services at the church and graveside service will be officiated by Rodney Jones of the County Line Baptist Church, Crystal Springs, MS.
