Muriel Bolls Suares, 94, of Greenville died September 28, 2020. A private service will be held on Thursday, October 1, 2020, officiated by Brandt Dick, Priest at St. James Episcopal Church in Greenville. Burial will be in the Beulah Cemetery under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Greenville.
Muriel was born October 1, 1925 in Crossett, Arkansas. Upon her graduation from high school in Hamburg, Arkansas, she enrolled in the nursing program at King’s Daughters Hospital in Greenville. She completed her nursing studies with graduate courses in New Orleans and Chicago. Muriel moved to Miami, Florida where she began her career as a registered nurse. Several years later she took the position of nursing supervisor in the hospital in Rosedale, Mississippi where she met her husband, Newman Bolls, Jr. Greenville became their home where they raised their family.
After her three children were older, Muriel returned to work as a nursing supervisor in a senior care facility, as a public health nurse in Washington County, and in a clinic affiliated with the University of Mississippi Medical Center at Delta Regional Medical Center.
Muriel was a member of the Triad Club, The Greenville Junior Auxiliary and The Revelers Club. She enjoyed playing bridge, planning family vacations, traveling and Mississippi State events. She was a member of St. James Episcopal Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, T.W. and Ruth Foote; brothers Louie Gene Foote and Chester Foote; sister, Betty Ann Foote; and nephew, Henry Foote; her husband of almost 47 years, Newman Bolls Jr.; son, Newman Bolls, III, and husband, Dr. John C. Suares. Survivors include daughter Jan Bolls Smith (Glenn) of Laurel, MS; her son Patrick S. Bolls (Kelly) of Greenville; her grandchildren G. Sheldon Smith and W. Schyler Smith of Madison, MS; AnnaBelle Smith Bier (Alex) and great-grandson, Douglas Bier of Madisonville, LA; sister-in law, Helen H. Foote of Hamburg; niece Patricia Ann Janes (Jerry) of Hamburg; great niece, Nan Erwin (Keith); great-nephew, Reid Erwin and great niece, Evan Erwin of Hamburg, AR.; great-nephew Kyle Barnett (Kamber) of Yukon, OK; great-nieces Kolbie Barnett and Kylie Barnett of Yukon, OK; step-son, Dr. Robert Suares (Carol) of Greenville and step-daughter, Ann Suares Marshall of Jackson.
The family thanks the entire staff of The Pinnacle of Greenville for their care and concerns for Muriel and her family during this very difficult time.
