Newman Bolls III

Newman Bolls, III died November 17, 2017, at his residence in Tutwiler, Mississippi. Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m., Monday, November 20, at the Beulah Cemetery, Beulah Mississippi under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Greenville. The Reverend Carrie Duncan, St. John’s, Leland officiated the service. 

Newman was born January 11, 1957, in Greenville. After graduation from Washington School, he attended Mississippi Delta Community College and later earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Entomology from Mississippi State University. He lived in Memphis for many years after graduating from Mississippi State and worked in sales for several Memphis area businesses until his retirement. 

His love for books on all subjects, but especially those on history, science and other cultures was evident to those who had a conversation with him. His knowledge of so many topics was vast. He was well traveled having made several trips to Africa and other foreign countries. He enjoyed camping, hunting, and being outdoors. He was awarded the rank of Eagle Scout and was a state track champion during high school. 

Mr. Bolls is preceded in death by his father, Newman Bolls, Jr. His survivors include his mother Muriel Bolls Suares; sister, Jan Bolls Smith (Glenn) of Madison, brother, Patrick Bolls (Kelly) of Greenville; nephews, Sheldon Smith of Madison, Schyler Smith of Madison; niece, AnnaBelle Bier (Alex) of Madisonville, LA; aunt, Helen Foote of Hamburg, AR; cousins Patricia Ann Foote Janes (Jerry) of Hamburg, AR; Pam Porter Paige (Larry) of Lincoln, MA; Rud Porter (Donica) of Cumberland, RI; Richard Shelby (Shoan) of Beulah, MS; and his former wife Sue Zan Williams of Tampa, FL. 

There will be a visitation from 12:30-1:00 PM Monday at Boone Funeral Home, Greenville. Memorials be made to the American Heart Association or the Humane Society of Memphis and Shelby County, 935 Farm Road, Memphis , TN 38134.
