Nolen Jacob Maddox, Jr.

DATELINE:  HATTIESBURG, MS

Funeral services for Nolen Jacob Maddox, Jr., 86, of Hattiesburg and formerly of Ackerman, Senatobia and Indianola, will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 5, 2014 at First Baptist Church, Indianola. He died Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at Wesley Medical Center, Hattiesburg. Burial will be in Indianola City Cemetery under the direction of Boone-Card Funeral Home, Indianola.

Born in Attala County, Nolen graduated from Ackerman High School and received a Bachelor of Science degree from Mississippi State University.

He was a veteran of World War II and served in the Pacific with the Navy-NATS Air Squadron 10. He received the Asiatic Pacific Ribbons and the World War II Victory Medal.

Nolen retired from Entergy (formerly Mississippi Power and Light) Corporation with 37 years of service. He was also a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason and a Shriner. Nolen was a member of First Baptist Church in Indianola.

He is survived by his son Robert “Bob” Nolen Maddox, and daughter-in-law, Ashlea, and grandson Jacob of Hattiesburg. He is preceded in death by his wife Marjorie Holloway Maddox, his parents Nolen Jacob Maddox, Sr. and Selma Bowie Maddox and his brother Garner Robin Maddox.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the church.
