Ock Chiu Wong

Funeral services for Ock Chiu Wong, 94, of Greenville will be at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, August 7 at Boone Funeral Home, Greenville. He died Monday, August 1 at his home. Burial will be in Greenville Chinese Cemetery. 

He was born in Guangzhou China moving to the United States at an early age where he received his education. He enlisted in the U. S. Navy and after his discharge he returned to Greenville where he owned and operated Thrifty Food Mart, retiring in 1984. While Mr. Wong was in the Navy he married Rose Sam. Mr. Wong was a member of First Baptist Church Chinese Mission where he was baptized. 

He is preceded in death by a son, Michael Joe Wong and a grandson, Christopher Michael Joe Wong. He is survived by his wife, Rose Sam Wong of Greenville; 3 sons, Melvin Joe Wong of San Antonio, TX, Mitchell Joe Wong of Fairfax, VA and Jim H. Wong of Houston, TX; 2 daughters, Cynthia Wong Pang of Baton Rouge, LA and Stacy Wong Pang of Marks, MS; 11 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. 

There will be a visitation one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
