Owen Sim McCoy, Jr.

Funeral services for Owen Sim McCoy, Jr., 89, of Greenville will be at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, January 4 at First Presbyterian Church. He died January 1 at Delta Regional Medical Center. Burial will be in Greenville Cemetery under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Greenville. 

Mr. McCoy was a native of Greenville and graduated from Greenville High School. He served in the United States Army Air Corps as a flight engineer on B-24 and B-29 bombers. After his discharge he entered Mississippi State University, earning a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. He began working for U. S. Gypsum Company in 1950, serving in several capacities, including Plant Engineering Superintendent, until his retirement in 1988. 

He was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Greenville, where he served as Sunday School Superintendent, Chairman of the Board of Deacons, and Clerk of the Session. 

He had been a dedicated volunteer of the Red Cross since 1988 with the West Delta Chapter. In 1999 he was awarded the Clara Barton Award, which is the highest honor given by Red Cross. 

He is survived by his wife, Nancy C. McCoy of Greenville; daughter, Marcy Bussell (Walter) of Sunrise, FL; son, Rick McCoy (Judy) of Pelham, FL; sister, Margaret Moyse; granddaughter, Jennifer Mccoy (Phillip) and grandson, Matt McCoy (Charlie). 

The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the church. Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, Greenville or to the American Red Cross.
