Funeral services for Paul Gayden “Trae” Smith III, 47, of Kansas City, MO and formerly of Greenville, MS will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 15, 2022 at Boone Funeral Home, Greenville. He passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, October 9, 2022 at his home. Arrangements are under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Greenville.
Trae was born on March 30, 1975 on Easter Sunday at Kings Daughter’s Hospital in Greenville, MS. He graduated from Riverside High School, Avon, MS in 1994. He went to Mississippi Delta Community College with a full scholarship where he was part of the Ambassador Showchoir for 2 years. He went on from there to Ridgeland, MS where he earned his degree as a massage therapist. Trae moved to Kansas City, MO in 1997 and later attended the Hair Academy where he earned his degree as a stylist. Trae worked for over 20 years in this field and built a tremendous clientele.
Trae had a lovely gift of making people feel very special and loved. he had a tremendous love of music and singing.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Jonathon Smith, grandparents, Paul Smith, W.A. Branning and Doris Laird.
He is survived by his parents, Danny and Vicky Turnage, Paul Gayden Smith, Jr. and Jackie Smith; brothers, Joshua Smith (Jami) and Wes Turnage (Alina); grandmother, Betty Ellis (Larry); nieces, Jae-Jae and Perri Smith, Lexie Turnage (Ryan), Amelia Turnage, Emmalynn Turnage and nephews, Drew Clowers and Jackson Turnage.
There will be a visitation from 10:00-11:00 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home prior to the services. Rev. Matt Alexander will officiate the services.
