It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Robert Earl Murray, beloved brother, father, grandfather, and cherished friend, who left us on Thursday, January 16, 2024, at the age of 78. A graveside service will be on Friday, January 24, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. at the Hollandale Cemetery. A visitation will be held before the graveside from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Boone Funeral Home in Greenville.
Born on July 31, 1946, to Johnnie “Joe” Murray and Ida Belle Baugh in Darlove, Mississippi, Robert was a soft-hearted and caring individual who, with his generosity, touched the lives of many.
Robert proudly served in the Army, dedicating his life to protecting our country. His commitment and bravery during his time in the service exemplified his strong character and unwavering sense of duty.
In addition to his military service, Robert was an avid hunter and fisherman, often spending weekends in the great outdoors. He cherished the time spent in nature, whether pursuing game or casting a line, and he passed on his love of the outdoors to his family, creating lasting memories that will be fondly remembered.
Robert is preceded in death by Johnnie “Joe” Murray, Ida Belle Murray, John Murray, Eugene Murray, and William Scott West. He is survived by his forever love, Penelepha Murray and his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren Amanda House (Scott), Jennifer Carpenter (Clifford), Joseph Murray, Ashley Flint (Cody), Robyn West (Josh), Katelynn Carpenter, Macie Jones (Jeremy), Clifford Carpenter III, Jaxson West, John-Christopher Flint, Baron Flint, Brandt Jones, Bennett Jones and a host of extended family including his four sisters, Alice, Rachel, Betty Ann, and Lucy, and friends who will remember him for his charm and quick wit.
