Robert Lamar Gray

Robert Lamar Gray, 95, of Greenville passed away April 23, 2018. A celebration of life visitation will be held Saturday, April 28, from 1:00-2:00 p.m. with a memorial service following in the First Baptist Chapel in Greenville, MS. 

He was born in Cairo, MS and grew up in New Albany, MS. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corp flying 35 missions over enemy territory on the Misschief B-24 bomber during WWII. After the war he attended the University of Mississippi and became a lifelong Ole Miss Rebel fan. He worked in the lumber company for many years until retiring from Chicago Mill & Lumber Company of Greenville, MS in 1985. 

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Melanie Gray of Memphis, TN, his parents, Bob and Allie Gray of New Albany, MS and two brother and four sisters. 

He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Juanita Hamilton Gray, and two daughters Rosie Raley of Memphis and Shannon Sipes of Greenville. He leaves grandchildren Lisa Gray of Bartlett, TN Debbie (Steve) Wickliffe of Franklin, TN, Joshua Hudson of Milton, FL, Lea Merrill Pugh and Olivia Pugh of Leland, MS. Also four great grandchildren, and two great-great grandsons. And a brother Warren Gray, and a sister Betty Sue Spencer of New Albany, MS. and many nieces and nephews.
