Memorial services for Robert Lawrence Dawkins, 35, of Leland, will be at 4:00 p.m. Saturday at St. James Episcopal Church, Greenville, Mississippi. He died Wednesday, July 19, 2017.
Rob was born January 4, 1982, the son of Jim and Lottie Mae Nichols Dawkins in Greenville, Mississippi and was baptized as an infant at the First Presbyterian Church. He attended St. James Episcopal Day School and in 2001 graduated from Washington School. Upon graduation, he entered the University of Mississippi where he received a Bachelor of Science degree. While at the university he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity and was involved in the National Youth Sports Program.
Rob was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church, Leland, where he served on the Vestry and was a past member of the Leland Rotary Club. He was recognized in his agricultural career as the recipient of several top sales awards in Mississippi and the Southeastern United States. He will also be remembered as an avid outdoorsman with remarkable achievements with his bow and arrow, turkey hunting and bass fishing. Rob was known for his love of everyone and was a loyal friend to countless people in all walks of life. He never met a stranger and always reached out to lend a helping hand to those in need.
Rob was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Dr. and Mrs. Carl Grady Nichols, Jr. of Leland and his paternal grandparents Buddy Dawkins of Biloxi and Elaine Dawkins of Brandon. He is survived by his wife, Paden Walker Dawkins, his sons Walker Myers Dawkins and Rhodes Lamar Dawkins, his parents, Jim and Lottie Mae Dawkins of Greenville, a brother, Will (Leah) Dawkins of Portland, Oregon, a sister, Jane Marie Dawkins of Merigold and a nephew, Sidney David Dawkins of Portland.
