It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ronnie E. LeMay, age 85, who died May 2, 2026. Ronnie was born on May 5, 1940, in Vicksburg, Mississippi, to Percy L. LeMay and Glinnis B. LeMay.  He spent his early childhood in Vicksburg before moving with his family to Greenville in 1952, where he grew up and established deep and lasting roots.

Ronnie attended Greenville High School, graduating in 1958. He continued his education at the University of Mississippi.  During his college years, he was a proud member of the Phi Delta Theta Fraternity, where he built lifelong friendships.  In his junior year, he joined the National Guard.

Following this service, Ronnie dedicated his professional life to his family’s businesses, including The Valley Towing Company, in the river towing industry. His work there was not just a career, but a continuation of a family legacy he valued deeply.   He was also a dedicated community leader, serving for more than 10 years as a Board Member of Deposit Guaranty Bank.  Ronnie loved his church, Trinity United Methodist, where he faithfully gave his time and heart.  For many years, he spent several hours each week visiting with special needs children at the church, forming meaningful connections that left a lasting impact.  This passion later contributed to the development of the Sheltered Occupational Center, where he also served as a Board Member.  As a result of these endeavors, he was honored to be named King of the Greenville Junior Auxiliary Ball in February 1988.

In 1964, Ronnie married his sweetheart, Emily C. Smith, beginning a devoted partnership that would anchor his life.  Together they raised two wonderful sons: John Harland LeMay of Greenville and Stephen Mark (Paige) LeMay of Bradenton, Florida. Ronnie was especially proud of his granddaughters in Florida, Cameron Elizabeth LeMay and Audrey Marie LeMay, who brought him great joy.  Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents, Percy LeMay and Glinnis LeMay, and his sister, Virginia LeMay Wyant.

Ronnie treasured time spent with family and friends, whether gathered around the dinner table or simply enjoying each other’s company.  He found joy in the outdoors and the simple pleasures of nature.  He had a deep appreciation for the changing seasons, especially the fall, which brought football and cherished traditions.  He especially enjoyed following Washington School football, where his sons played.  As an enthusiastic supporter of Ole Miss football, trips to Oxford were among his fondest memories.  Christmas was his favorite time of year, filled with the warmth of friendships, church activities, and the spirit of the season he loved so much.  Ronnie spent his final years in Greenville, solving the world’s problems over coffee each morning with his best friend, Dr. Jim Parkerson.

Ronnie will be remembered for his devotion to family, his strong sense of tradition, and the genuine joy he found in life’s simple moments.  His legacy of love, loyalty, and faith will be cherished by all who knew him.

The family wishes to thank the Adoration Hospice and its members for their kindness and superior help for Ronnie during his journey.
