Rose Marie Russell Gorman

Funeral servcies for Rose Marie Russell Gorman, 84, of DeWitt, AR and formerly of Greenville will be at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, April 10, 2014 at Boone Funeral Home, Greenville.  She passed away on April 5, in DeWitt, Arkansas.  Burial will be in Leland-Stoneville Cemetery under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Greenville.

Rose Marie was born in Avon, MS, on July 21, 1929, and graduated from Greenville High School. She was a dental technician and housewife, and she served as past president of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. Rose Marie was also active in American Legion and VFW events with her husband John Howard, who served in the United States Navy during World War II. She was a member of First Baptist Church, where she enjoyed singing. She took pride in every car she owned, and she loved traveling in them. Rose Marie and John Howard spoiled their dogs and considered them all part of the family. In addition, Rose Marie was a CB radio enthusiast; using her handle “Fancy,” she made connections with people across the country.

Rose Marie was preceded in death by her parents Charles David Russell, Sr., and Rev. James H. and Fannie Dee Taylor Russell Oswald; her husband John Howard Gorman; her son David Bryant Gorman; and her siblings Charles David Russell, Jr., Louise Oswald Dillon, Joyce Myrle Oswald, and Joel Burle (J.B.) Oswald. Family members who mourn her loss include her three grandchildren: Susan Gorman of Arlington, VA; John-David Gorman (Sarah) of Little Rock, AR; and Kristin Gorman Bishop of Fort Worth, TX. Rose Marie was also the proud great-grandmother of Maxwell Gorman and Landry Bishop.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
