Roy, one of 9 children, was raised in rural Mississippi. In 1950 he joined the United States Air Force. In 1951 he married the love of his life, Tressie Lee Barrentine. Roy and Tressie spent the next two and a half decades, making many personal sacrifices to serve their Lord, their country, raise a family, nurture lasting friendships and travel around the world. In 1975 Roy retired from the United States Air Force after 23 years of distinguished service. His exemplary military career was recognized by numerous awards and medals.

Their love of family and strong ties to home brought Tressie and Roy back to live in Mississippi after his military retirement. He would start a second career by installing a new cable system in Hollandale, This would lead to a position as the Chief Engineer for WXVT TV in Greenville. Prior to his retirement he would serve as the Superintendent of Washington County Drainage Commission. He was able to retire in the early 1990s. He enjoyed his retirement years but as is typical of Roy, he served as a hospice chaplain and was active in a nursing home ministry.

Throughout his life Roy was a man of great faith with a heart for service. He was an active member of the Lions and Masons for many years. As an ordained Southern Baptist minister he served in many leadership roles in churches throughout the world to include as a teacher, deacon, interim pastor and board member. He was a member of his beloved Glendale Baptist Church for 40 years. His family will remember him as a loving husband, father, papaw, brother, uncle and friend. Uncle Gene, as he was affectionately known by many, lived his life serving the Lord and others.

He is survived by his wife of 64 year years, Tressie Lee Webb (Barrentine), children Thomas Webb (Karen), Cindy Davis (Robert), Granddaughter Lindsay Lewis (John) and Great Grandson Rawson Lewis. He is also survived by his brothers Walter Albert Webb, William Thomas Webb, Ray Wayne Webb, sister Bonnie McClendon, and a large extended family.
