Ruth Newton Orsborn

Graveside services for Ruth “Dot” Newton Orsborn, 95, of Darlove will be at 2:30 p.m., Thursday, February 5, 2015 at Hollandale Cemetery. She died Monday, February 2 at Hospice Ministries, Ridgeland. Arrangements are under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Leland. 

She was a native of Sweetwater, AL moving to Darlove at an early age graduating from Hollandale High School. She married Herman Orsborn after WWII and they were engaged in farming throughout the Delta. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Herman Orsborn, her parents, George and Nancy Newton, daughter, Nancy Biggers, sister, Willie Mae Jordan and a brother, J. T. Newton. 

She is survived by son, Jesse Harris Orsborn (Patty) of Warsaw, MO; sister, Lavern “Jim” Hyer of Darlove; 4 grandchildren, Courtney Ables of Yazoo City, Steve Biggers (Anita) of Yazoo City, Robin Glade (Brian) of Tulsa, OK and Amy Orsborn of New York, NY and 2 great grandchildren, Madison and Cole Ables.

The family will receive friends Thursday, February 5 from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at Boone Chapel, Hollandale. Memorials may be made to Darlove Baptist Church or a charity of your choice.
