Ruth Nunnery Crowe

Funeral services for Ruth Elizabeth Helms Nunnery Crowe, 81, of Greenville will be Saturday at 4:00 p.m. at St. James Episcopal Church. She died June 12, 2013 at The University of North Carolina Memorial Hospital in Chapel Hill, NC after a short illness. Burial will be in Greenville Cemetery under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Greenville.

Ruth was born November 19, 1931 to the late Lillian and George Helms in Greenville Mississippi. She attended Greenville public schools throughout her early years and Delta State for college.  She married the late Louis A. Nunnery, a Delta farmer in 1950. They were married for 55 years.  In 2008 she married the late Donald Crowe.

Ruth was a lifelong member of St. James Episcopal Church, a member of Junior Auxillary, a Master Gardener, and member of the Greenville Tree Board.  She worked as the superintendent of the Greenville Cemetery for many years. 

She leaves behind a family in which she was devoted: son George Louis (Chip) Nunnery and his wife Cathy Mosley Nunnery of Greenville, MS a daughter Linda Nunnery Bell and her husband John Weilenman Bell of Chapel Hill, NC, 3 sisters, Louise Helms Ratliff of Jackson, MS, Myrtice Helms Stewart of Auburn, AL and Mary Helms Bloodworth of Apalachicola, FL.  Grandchildren are Shellman Elizabeth Nunnery Scarborough, John Weilenman Bell Jr, Christina Lee Nunnery Pittman, Laurel Helms Bell, Rebecca Kathleen Nunnery Harris and 11 great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends in the parish hall at 3:00 p.m. prior to services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. James Episcopal Church.
