Memorial services for Sally Trotter, 89, of Greenville will be at 3:00 p.m., Thursday, April 9, 2015 at First Presbyterian Church, Greenville. She died Monday, April 6, 2015 at her home. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Cemetery, Grenada, MS at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, April 9, 2015.
Mrs. Trotter was born January 5, 1926 in Memphis, TN the daughter of William Isaac Stone and Maggie Lea Bryant Stone of Coffeeville, MS where she graduated from high school. She attended the University of Mississippi receiving a BA with honors in 1946 and was a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority. She married W. C. “Bill” Trotter, Jr. on November 12, 1944, making their home in Greenville since 1957.
Mrs. Trotter was a genealogist, having a great interest in the genealogy of her family. This inspired her to author several books of her family history. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, singing in the choir for over 50 years and also directed the hand bell choir. She was a member of the DAR, Colonial Dames of America, the Huguenot Society, and First Families of Mississippi. She was an avid fan of the opera and longtime patron of the Delta Music Association as well as a supporter of the arts.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 2012. She is survived by 2 sons, W. C. “Cham” Trotter, III (Jane) of Belzoni and Ike Stone Trotter (Beverly) of Greenville; 5 grandchildren, Lisa Trotter Melton (Floyd) of Greenwood, Dr. John McLean Trotter (Lisa) of Fairhope, AL, Dr. Germaine Gottsche (Michael Wilson) of Ocean Springs, Melinda Trotter Thompson (Daniel) of Batesville and Dr. Bryant Collins Trotter (Ann Christopher) of Hernando; and 9 great grandchildren.
The family would like to thank her devoted caregivers, Aserey Kincade, Carolyn Brown, Leslie Wise, Carrie Lewis and Ora Mae Howard.
