Sara Belle Johnson Bean

Funeral services for Sara Belle Johnson Bean, 91, of Tupelo will be at noon, Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at Boone Funeral Home, Greenville.  She died Monday, March 10, 2014 at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo.  Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Greenville.

Mrs. Bean was born on August 29, 1922 to Conrad R. Johnson and Lottie Maybelle Holland Johnson in Malvern, AR but moved to the Delta at an early age.  She married H. D. Bean, Sr. in 1939.  Mrs. Bean graduated from Delta State University after all her children were grown, and she received a bachelor’s degree in elementary education.  She was a faithful member and Sunday school teacher of Emmanuel Baptist Church.

Mrs. Bean was preceded in death by her parents, Conrad and Lottie Johnson, husband, H. D. Bean, Sr., daughter, Charlotte Sue Bean, son, Dennis Lee Bean, Sr. and siblings, Dorothy Bean of Greenville, Pauline Ballard of Shaw, Zelma Cummins of Glen Allan, Ethel Red of Cleveland, Kay Cummins of Cleveland and Albert Johnson.

Mrs. Bean is survived by her son, Dallas Bean (Ruby) of Caledonia, daughter, Beverly Brimer (Wayne) of Saltillo, two brothers, C.R. Johnson of Coushatta, LA, L.B. Johnson of San Antonio, TX, nine grandchildren, three step grandchildren, and twenty great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Mrs. Bean’s grandsons.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to services on Wednesday. The Rev. Mark Kelly of Emmanuel Baptist Church will officiate.  Memorials may be made to Sanctuary Hospice, P. O. Box 2177, Tupelo, MS  38803.
