Ruth Sharon Glover Clark passed away on May 8, 2025, in Greenville. Arrangements are under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Greenville.
Sharon was born on January 20, 1946, in Memphis, Tennessee, to William Raymond Glover and Ruth Evelyn McKenzie Glover. She graduated from Starkville High School in 1964, then graduated from Mississippi State University with a degree in education and a Master’s degree in education from Delta State University. She taught elementary school in Macon, Georgia; Raleigh, North Carolina; Leland, Mississippi; and Arcola, Mississippi. She was employed with the Leland Elementary School System from the late 1970’s until her retirement in 2001. She taught for several years at Deer Creek School after her retirement from Leland Schools.
She was an active member of First Baptist Church in Leland, where she was in the choir, taught Sunday School, was a part of the handbell choir, and led the children’s choir for many years. Sharon was very involved with Vacation Bible School, creating beautiful displays as well as being the Bible storyteller for many years of VBS. She was also an active member of Community Bible Study from 2008 until her passing.
Sharon had a sharp, creative mind with a great love of music, crafts, reading, and sewing. Her love of teaching gave her the opportunities to reach many hearts and minds. She used her talents to share her love of music in choirs, playing the violin when she was younger, sewing crafts, and clothing for family and friends. Sharon considered every one of the students to be her family.
She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Ruth Evelyn Glover of Starkville, Mississippi, her sister, Susan Claire King of Jackson, Mississippi, and her husband of 49 years, Davis Ray Clark, of Leland, Mississippi. Sharon is survived by two daughters, Amanda Claire Woodring (Charles Schardong) of Oakland, Maryland, and Lucy Carole Clark (Travis Huffman) of Sterling, Virginia. She is also survived by her many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church in Leland for Operation Christmas Child or the third-floor renovation.
