Graveside services for Sheila Rose Lee, 72, of Florence, MS will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 11, 2021 at Leland-Stoneville Cemetery. She passed away on Wednesday, November 24, 2021 in Florence, MS. Arrangements are under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Leland.
Born in California on June 19, 1949 to Ray and Louise (Rose) Lee, Sheila received a Bachelor of Science in Speech and Hearing Sciences as well as a Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology from Mississippi University for Women.
Sheila enjoyed a long career in speech language therapy in both the public and private sectors. From 1977 to 1982, Sheila served as the Director of the Easter Seals Clinic of Jackson, MS. From 1982 to 1985 Sheila served as a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) at Boswell Regional Center in Magee, MS moving to Wichita, KS in 1985. In Kansas, she worked as a SLP at Institute of Logopedics, a facility for youth with language disorders. From 1989 to 1995, Sheila served as a SLP at Hillhaven Nursing Facility, a long-term nursing care facility. Beginning in 1995, Sheila was a traveling SLP until she relocated back to the Jackson, MS area in 1998. From 1998 through her retirement in 2018 she was a SLP in the Jackson Public School District and Clinical Supervisor at Jackson State University. She is remembered as a wonderful and effective SLP.
In her free time, Sheila was an avid equestrian and a long-time member of the MS Tennessee Walking Horse Association and a member of The Heart of Dixie Horse Association. Her pride and joy was her horse She’s Grand Enough (She’s). She loved the company of her various animals on her property in Rankin County, MS.
Sheila is preceded in death by her brothers Ray Lee, Allen Lee and Hubert Lee. She is survived by sisters Beulah Nelson of Pearl, MS and Rebecca Sutton of Brandon, MS and many nieces and nephews.
