Funeral services for Shirley Ruth Wilkerson Gordon, 76, will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 6, 2024, at Boone Funeral Home, Greenville. There will be a visitation from 10:00 a.m. until service time. She passed away on Sunday, June 30, 2024, at Arlington Memorial Hospital in Arlington, Texas. Burial will be Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
Shirley was born in Isola, Mississippi on October 1,1947 to Leon and Ruth Wilkerson. She graduated from Greenville High School in 1965 and married the love of her life, J.C. Gordon shortly after. Shirley retired from AT&T formerly Bellsouth after 30 years of service in 1995 and went on to become a realtor in Mississippi. Shirley moved to Cleburne, Texas in 2001 with her girls where she also obtained a real estate license. She was an ambassador for the Cleburne Chamber of Commerce and was proud of her city. She was a long time member of Bethel Assembly. Shirley loved singing and comforted many people with her beautiful voice. Shirley was the proud mother of twin girls whom she adored. She will be remembered as a loving mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend.
Shirley is survived by her daughters, Jennifer and Jessica Gordon; sisters Brenda Webb, Gaye(Howard) Tatum, Janice(Ronnie) Tyler; brother Mark(Faye) Wilkerson; and grandchildren Trae, JC, Abby, and Jenna Jordon; and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Leon and Ruth Wilkerson; husband J.C. Gordon; brother David Wilkerson; sister Deborah Montgomery.
Shirley was a child of God and she showed it in the way she lived her life. She was understanding and compassionate. When she told you she loved you she meant it. She will be missed but we know she is in paradise.
Ambassador. Bethel temple. Loved singing. Comforted many with voice.
