Steve Prather

Memorial services for Steve Prather, 69, of Leland will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 8, 2020 at First Baptist Church, Leland. He passed away on Thursday, June 4, 2020 at Baptist Memorial in Memphis, TN. Arrangements are under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Leland.

Steve was a member of First Baptist Church of Leland where he served as a deacon. He was a farmer for 50 years. He was involved in design with NAMMCO in Lubbock, TX. In 1997, he was recognized for his work in wildlife conservation, and in 2000, he was recognized as WNIX Farmer of the Year and for outstanding dedication to the Mississippi Partners Program. He was recognized as Rice Farmer of 2006 by National Conservation Systems.

He was preceded in death by his father, Carey Prather and grandson, Nathan James Prather.

He is survived by his mother, Nell Prather; his wife of 45 years, Kay; two sons, Jason (Lauren) of Tremont, MS and Justin (Susan) of Cleveland, MS; brother, Bryan Prather of Starkville, MS; and sister, Laura Holderbaum of Lewisberry, PA. He also leaves behind five dearly loved grandchildren, Grace Anne, Emma Kate, John Holt, Elijah Nathan and Emory.

There will be a visitation from 10:00-11:00 a.m., Monday at the church. Reverend Jon Doler will officiate.
