Steven Robert Osso, 73, of Greenville, Mississippi, died on May 16, 2026. A celebration of life service will be held at Greenville First Methodist Church on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. with visitation from 1:00 p.m. until service time. Arrangements are under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Greenville.
Steve was born in Hamilton, Ohio, on January 27, 1953. Always athletic and active in his youth, he attended the University of Mississippi, where he played basketball and pursued an accounting degree from 1971 to 1976.
While at Ole Miss, he met and fell in love with Janie Young – a love that would endure throughout 52 years of marriage. Together, they shared a life centered on their three daughters: Sarah, Kate, and Maggie.
Steve devoted much of his professional life to business leadership, public service, and helping others navigate the complexities of tax and finance with wisdom, integrity, and humor.
Steve was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. His faith was the foundation of his life. A dedicated member of Greenville First Methodist Church for more than 40 years, Steve faithfully served his church and community, consistently putting the needs of others before his own.
Known for his warmth, humor, and ability to make others feel at ease, Steve left a meaningful impression on countless people throughout his life.
Steve is survived by his wife, Janie (Young) Osso; daughters Sarah Osso McMahen (Laird), Kate Osso Martello, and Maggie Osso Lyons (Danny); grandchildren Mollie, Joseph, Livvy, and Rob; sister, Pam, and niece, Gina. He was preceded in death by his mother, Virginia Osso Spangler, and father, Matthew Robert Osso.
