Private graveside services for Ted Kattawar, age 81, of Southaven and formerly of Greenville will be held on Tuesday, September 15, 2020 at Greencrest Memorial Gardens in Belzoni. He passed away on Sunday, September 13 at his home.
He was born in Greenville, MS. to Mike and Dollie Kattawar. He graduated from St. Joseph High School where he lettered in football. He also attended Delta State University. He was a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason. Ted owned and operated Kattawar Insurance Agency for 48 years. He retired in 2015 and moved to Southaven, MS. Ted was an accomplished singer and musician. His awesome talents included piano, organ and saxophone. He traveled and recorded with many big-name bands throughout the country. He put his heart and soul into every note he played and every song he sang. His music was loved and enjoyed for over 60 years by many who had the opportunity to hear him play and sing the blues. Ted also loved fishing and hunting with family and friends. He was a lifelong member of Lake Lee Hunting Club. He was a long time member of St Joseph Church.
Ted leaves his wife, Pam, four daughters Renee Campbell (Dave), Cassie Worley, Susan Mast (Greg) and Melissa Morgan (Robert), 2 step daughters Christy Mangrum (Neal) and Jennifer Davis, four grandchildren Hugh Douglass Worley, Cooper Worley, Emerson Morgan and Davne Mast. Three step grandchildren, Preston Mangrum, Bailey Mangrum and Mary Kiker Davis and one great granddaughter Stella Mangrum. Ted also leaves three brothers Jerry (Millie), Michael (Barbara), Ronnie (Carol) and one sister Judy (Bobby) and a lot of nieces and nephews. Ted was lovingly known as Edbu to his siblings and was a very special brother to them.
Ted will be remembered for his deep love of God, his devotion and love for his family and his ongoing passion for music.
Honorary pallbearers will be his nephews Mike Kattawar Jr, Dave Kattawar, Tyler Kattawar, Jerry Kattawar Jr, Ronnie Kattawar Jr, Jason Kattawar, Benny Wayne Smith and Pete Cora.
