Funeral services for Thelma Burt Morgan, 89, of Union City, TN will be at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 27 at Leland United Methodist Church. She passed away on Monday, February 25 at Obion County Nursing Home in Union City, TN. Burial will be in the Leland-Stoneville Cemetery under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Leland.
Mrs. Morgan was born in Greenville, MS on November 11, 1929 to Tave Burt and Estelle Evans Burt. She married Rance Eugene Morgan, Jr. from Sunflower, MS. In 1955, they made their home in Leland where they raised their four children. Mrs. Morgan was a homemaker who loved to cook and entertain in her home. She was an active member of Leland United Methodist Church where she served as Sunday School Superintendent. She was also a member of the Leland Garden Club. The love of her life was a special needs granddaughter born to Mrs. Morgan’s youngest child Dawn. When Darren and Dawn Bowling relocated from Mississippi to Tennessee seventeen years ago she moved with them to help take care of Meri-Morgan.
Mrs. Morgan was preceded in death by her husband, Rance E. Morgan, Jr. She is survived by four children; Tricia Stanton (Lin) of Greenwood, MS, Rance Morgan III (Dru) of Leland, Craig Morgan (Teresa) of Isola and Dawn Bowling (Darren) of Union City, TN; nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
There will be a visitation from 1:00-2:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the church.
