Funeral Mass for Thomas Albert Butler, 88, of Leland will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 11, 2025, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. There will be a visitation from 10:00 a.m. until service time. He died at his home on Tuesday, July 8, 2025. Burial will be in the Greenville Cemetery.
He was born on February 16, 1937, in Wiggins, MS to Mr. and Mrs. Irby Larue Butler. He was a 1956 graduate of Wiggins Consolidated High School. He graduated college from The University of Mississippi in 1963.
Thomas Albert Butler married Viola Ann Fratesi on January 30, 1965, in Leland, MS. He was in the swimming pool and construction business and built pools in the Mississippi Delta and in surrounding states. Thomas was a hard working and very adventurous man. His hobbies were working and flying in the many airplanes he owned.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Irby Larue Butler; two brothers, George Butler and Shirley Maurice Butler.
He is survived by his wife, Viola Ann Fratesi Butler; two sons, Thomas and Sammy Butler; a daughter, Sherry Butler Blake; a sister, Betty Butler Hunt; seven grandchildren, Ann Marie Blake Fox, Kelly Katherine Blake, Hayden Nicole Butler, John Thomas Butler, Adelynn Grace Butler, Ava Amelia Butler, and Anderson Samuel Butler; and five great-grandchildren, Abigail Katherine Fox, Taylor Marie Blake, Matthew Wesson Blake, Luke Owen Blake, and Avery Nicole Blake.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church.
